Samuel Luther Thompson

Sam Thompson was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974 as a Player by the Veteran's Committee. Sam was a Rightfielder who played in the majors for 15 years playing in 1,410 games. He batted 5,998 times from the left side with 1,988 hits, 126 home runs, 1,305 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .331. He was born on March 5, 1860 in Danville, IN. His nickname was "Big Sam." Sam went to his Field of Dreams on November 7, 1922.
