Edgar Charles Rice
Sam Rice was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1963 as a Player by the Veteran's Committee. Sam was a Rightfielder who played in the majors for 20 years playing in 2,404 games for the Washington Senators and Cleveland Indians. Sam pitched right-handed in 9 games totalling 39 innings with 12 strikeouts and recorded a career ERA of 2.52. He batted 9,269 times from the left side with 2,987 hits, 34 home runs, 1,077 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .322. He was born on February 20, 1890 in Morocco, IN. Sam went to his Field of Dreams on October 13, 1974.
