
Charles Herbert Ruffing
Red Ruffing was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1967 as a Player by the Run Off receiving 86.9 percent of the vote that year. Red was a Pitcher and Pinch Hitter who played in the majors for 22 years playing in 882 games for the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. Red pitched right-handed in 624 games totalling 4,344 innings with 1,987 strikeouts and recorded a career ERA of 3.80. He batted 1,937 times from the right side with 521 hits, 36 home runs, 273 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .269. He was born on May 3, 1905 in Granville, IL. Red went to his Field of Dreams on February 17, 1986.
