Phil Niekro was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 as a Player by the BBWAA receiving 80.3 percent of the vote that year. Phil was a Pitcher who played in the majors for 24 years playing in 866 games. Phil pitched right-handed in 864 games totalling 5,404 innings with 3,342 strikeouts and recorded a career ERA of 3.35. He batted 1,537 times from the right side with 260 hits, 7 home runs, 109 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .169. He was born on April 1, 1939 in Blaine, OH. His nickname is "Knucksie."
