Osborne Earl Smith

Ozzie Smith was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2002 as a Player by the BBWAA receiving 91.7 percent of the vote that year. Ozzie was a Shortstop who played in the majors for 19 years playing in 2,573 games for the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals. He batted 9,396 times as a switch hitter with 2,460 hits, 28 home runs, 793 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .262. He was born on December 26, 1954 in Mobile, AL. His nickname is "The Wizard of Oz."
