Monford Merrill Irvin
Monte Irvin was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973 as a Player by the Negro League. Monte was a Leftfielder and First Baseman who played in the majors for 8 years playing in 764 games for the New York Giants and Chicago Cubs. He batted 2,499 times from the right side with 731 hits, 99 home runs, 443 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .293. He was born on February 25, 1919 in Haleburg, AL. His nickname was "Mr. Murder." Monte went to his Field of Dreams on January 11, 2016.
