Mickey Charles Mantle
Mickey Mantle was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974 as a Player by the BBWAA receiving 88.2 percent of the vote that year. Mickey was a Centerfielder and First Baseman who played in the majors for 18 years playing in 2,401 games for the New York Yankees. He batted 8,102 times as a switch hitter with 2,415 hits, 536 home runs, 1,509 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .298. He was born on October 20, 1931 in Spavinaw, OK. His nickname was "The Mick, The Commerce Comet or Muscles." Mickey went to his Field of Dreams on August 13, 1995.
