Lou Gehrig was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939 as a Player by the Special Election. Lou was a First Baseman who played in the majors for 17 years playing in 2,164 games for the New York Yankees. He batted 8,001 times from the left side with 2,721 hits, 493 home runs, 1,995 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .340. He was born on June 19, 1903 in New York, NY. His nickname was "The Iron Horse, Biscuit Pants, Buster, Laruppin' or Columbia." Lou went to his Field of Dreams on June 2, 1941.
