John Montgomery Ward
John Ward was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1964 as a Player by the Veteran's Committee. John was a Shortstop, Second Baseman and Pitcher who played in the majors for 17 years playing in 1,827 games. John pitched right-handed in 293 games totalling 2,469 innings with 920 strikeouts and recorded a career ERA of 2.10. He batted 7,656 times from the left side with 2,107 hits, 26 home runs, 869 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .275. He was born on March 3, 1860 in Bellefonte, PA. His nickname was "Monte." John went to his Field of Dreams on March 4, 1925.
