Ernie Banks was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977 as a Player by the BBWAA receiving 83.8 percent of the vote that year. Ernie was a First Baseman and Shortstop who played in the majors for 19 years playing in 2,528 games for the Chicago Cubs. He batted 9,421 times from the right side with 2,583 hits, 512 home runs, 1,636 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .274. He was born on January 31, 1931 in Dallas, TX. His nickname was "Mr. Cub." Ernie went to his Field of Dreams on January 23, 2015.
