Early Wynn was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972 as a Player by the BBWAA receiving 76.0 percent of the vote that year. Early was a Pitcher who played in the majors for 23 years playing in 796 games. Early pitched right-handed in 691 games totalling 4,564 innings with 2,334 strikeouts and recorded a career ERA of 3.54. He batted 1,704 times as a switch hitter with 365 hits, 17 home runs, 173 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .214. He was born on January 6, 1920 in Hartford, AL. His nickname was "Gus." Early went to his Field of Dreams on April 4, 1999.
