David James Bancroft
Dave Bancroft was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971 as a Player by the Veteran's Committee. Dave was a Shortstop who played in the majors for 16 years playing in 1,913 games. He batted 7,182 times as a switch hitter with 2,004 hits, 32 home runs, 591 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .279. He was born on April 20, 1891 in Sioux City, IA. His nickname was "Beauty." Dave went to his Field of Dreams on October 9, 1972.
