Charles Albert Bender

Chief Bender was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953 as a Player by the Veteran's Committee. Chief was a Pitcher who played in the majors for 16 years playing in 507 games. Chief pitched right-handed in 459 games totalling 3,017 innings with 1,711 strikeouts and recorded a career ERA of 2.46. He batted 1,147 times from the right side with 243 hits, 6 home runs, 116 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .212. He was born on May 5, 1884 in Crow Wing County, MN. Chief went to his Field of Dreams on May 22, 1954.
