Cap Anson was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939 as a Player by the Old Timers. Cap was a First Baseman, Third Baseman and Catcher who played in the majors for 27 years playing in 2,524 games. Cap pitched right-handed in 3 games totalling 4 innings with 1 strikeouts and recorded a career ERA of 4.50. He batted 10,281 times from the right side with 3,435 hits, 97 home runs, 2,075 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .334. He was born on April 17, 1852 in Marshalltown, IA. His nickname was "Pop or The Marshalltown Infant." Cap went to his Field of Dreams on April 14, 1922.
