Charles Leonard Gehringer

Charlie Gehringer was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1949 as a Player by the Run Off receiving 85.0 percent of the vote that year. Charlie was a Second Baseman who played in the majors for 19 years playing in 2,323 games for the Detroit Tigers. He batted 8,860 times from the left side with 2,839 hits, 184 home runs, 1,427 RBIs, and recorded a career batting average of .320. He was born on May 11, 1903 in Fowlerville, MI. His nickname was "The Mechanical Man." Charlie went to his Field of Dreams on January 21, 1993.
